Clean is My 2026 word of the year!

wellness shots as part of a clean journey

A clean journey perhaps. I’ve always been conscious of what I’m eating, I generally follow a lower carb, high protein diet. This past year, having chickens and getting fresh produce from the garden allowed me to make more items from scratch. In doing so, I know exactly what I’m putting into my families body. Reducing the amount of additives, preservatives, and minimizing colors and added sugars.

I’m not saying I’m only going to be serving clean food, but I hope to keep this top of mind.

Some examples of this are making my own salad dressings, mayonnaise, pickles, pesto, sauces, and hummus. Nothing crazy. But fresh tzatziki using my own cucumbers, mint, and dill tastes so much better than store bought. Home made marinara sauce using fresh tomatoes and basil, limiting the amount of sugar and added oils. Fresh pressed juices and wellness shots.

The clean journey also is impacted by the tools we use. I made an effort to switch out all of my old black plastic utensils, plastic chopping boards, non-stick pans, and plastic storage containers to non-toxic alternatives.
